What is Enharmonic Notation? Enharmonic notation is the possible use of two or more different names for the same pitch. Why is Enharmonic Notation Necessary? Primarily, enharmonic notation is necessary because music is written according to its tonal relationships rather than according to its sound. In this respect, music is like language in which the same sound of word, is spelled differently according to its context or meaning, for example, to, too, and two.

SPECIAL NEWS EVENTS: Recording Session: I just finished a recording session (Aug) of old marches by Fulton. He was a composer at the turn of the century, around 1900. Jeff Yeager, former MHS student, discovered these marches, but could not locate any recordings, so he put together about 25 musicians and we sight-read and recorded about 30 of Fultons' marches. I will have a CD soon.
